Here is the start of a GWR 4253 Locomotive build from a Warren Shepherd kit. The locomotive will be modelled on the real locomotive currently being restored by the Kent & East Sussex Railway under the ‘4253’ Company. Firstly the kit provides a number of chassis configurations and motor mounting options, once we worked out the plan, we had to fit all the springs to the frames, that had been joggled over the rear axel. Here we have a battered and brushed BR Standard Class 4, with some damage to the eccentric crank and rod. Further inspection revealed brake rodding damaged both on the loco and tender. Several areas of paint work damage, missing lamp iron on the tender. First things to do is strip the loco down to chassis components and remove the eccentric crank, check to then see the motion running. Also checking the opposite side for any issues.
